The Ministry of Finance and Public Credit announced last week that from this year on the Tributary Administration Services (SAT) will return taxes to tax payers who infer nutritionist costs. This financial incentive works as any other personal deduction notified in the annual declaration. The limit applies to 15% of the annual income or around MX$12.000.
This initiative looks forward to promote healthy habits within the Mexican population and hopefully reduce the obesity and overweight rates. According to the 2012 National Health and Nutrition Survey, one of every three children has obesity and in adults this problem reaches almost 70 percent of the population.
Tax payers will need the fiscal proof emitted by the nutritionist for the service provided in order to get the deduction.
